The assassin is actually my most favorite class. The reason why it gets terrible reasons is because there are too many players who don't know how to use one and worse of all they use the profession as a knock off of the other classes.

PVE: DAGGERS ASSASSINS AREN'T TANKS! So annoying. I feel the monks pain everytime they gotta heal these naruto-fanatic noobs and worry about the real tanks (warriors and don't even include Dervish.)
The assassin should be played, as an assassin. I could never leave into PVE without my shadow step skills. The purpose is to take out a foe that is not of the primary target and return to safety. Too many sins fail to do that, they die and they make up reasons such as lag and dp rather than they just suck?

PVP: I love them in AB and RA. Depends on what you make of it.

Personally the worst class is the Dervish, but together if you got a sin and dervish on the team, be very picky on their builds or just never accept them into your team cause it will be a pain in the arse.

I'd still add Deep Wound in there just encase it's something that needs to be killed fast though. You can say that the actual combo is a burden in itself though. You need the enemy alive to deal maximum damage. That is a pretty big problem.

Shadow Form just needs to die. Godmode should exist in no game, unless it's done by means of third-party software.

PvP? /Care. Delete them anyway, what good did they and their secondary benefit actually bring?
Would you say that there was ever a point from the release of Factions to present day, where you did exactly feel this way?

Would you play the profession in pve if Moebius Strike or Shadow form did not exist?
Would you play the profession in pvp if they had no shadowsteps?

Honestly, I wouldn't mind if the sin was removed from the game, it's brainless play in pve, and in pvp it's degenerate and very much just a series of 1-2-3-4-5-6 builds.
So Shove-sin and Beguiling Haze are overpowered is what you are saying right?

Can't say much about the release of Factions but I know that Assassins and Ritualists were retarded back then, and no doubt that shadowsteps were already being abused on Warriors too. I believe they were more geared towards the PvE player.

Sure, why not? I personally find it fun in PvE when I do PvE, but at the same time I don't use Moebius. Instead, a bar that requires no elite so I can do what I choose to the bar. Might improve it, but don't really care for it at this moment in time.

Depends. I still run a Shovesin from time to time regardless of its several inferiorities to other 'Sin bars and above Warriors or Dervs. I personally find the jump in jump out playstyle to be fun, and the ability to use set chains quite cool. However, sacrifices are sometimes better.

Sins have seen less play in higher levels of Pvp.
Do you think the deletion of the profession would make a significant impact on those area's?
Or would it do nothing or next to nothing?

pros:
-fun to play
-one of the best classes for solo-splitting
-killing someone in under 4s is an orgasmic experience

cons:
-mostly suck in team (8v8) situations
-broken
-overused
-constantly nerfed
-bad reputation

completely agree, except for the suck in team part.

only one sin is good in team though, if you have 2-6(yes iv seen 6 sins in a group and they weren't perma...) they are bad

I play a sin and I think SF should be nerfed through the roof its just cheap beyond reason...

they're kinda meh. great for beginners because there's very little execution skill involved, and good for veterans who just want to run around and gank people for lulz.

SF: I don't give a shit
Moebius: I'd probably spend more time on my War.

Occasionally in RA. But that's just because most shadowsteps SUCK.

A sin without shadowstep(s) is really just a shitty warrior.

Teleport --> Deep Wound. In style.

Powerful but not overpowered. Shovesin's damage isn't too impressive and it's susceptible to kiting, Haze is right where it should be imo.

GvG: no.
HA: yes.
More casual forms of PvP: RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO yeah.

Sins, cool ideas, potential to be good, but were basically screwed up.
Also, they aint the prettiest. Not too ugly, just not great.
Still I have fun with mine, god physical heavy teams are fun.

Can someone please tell Phantom Flux that Critical Agility gives us armour on par with Warrior's?

Who cares if it gives us armor like Wars. Tanking is stupid.

My sin was the first character I created, the character with the most hours of gameplay, and honestly, I just love the profession to death.

Why? Idk...they're classy, have cool skills, do good damage, require a modicum of game awareness to play (you cant frenzy healsig your way through stuff on a sin like you can on a warrior), and so on and so forth.

Of course, the SF buff kinda created these bandwagons (the nubs who hate sins but want to farm and the nubs who cant farm, so hate the sins), both of which are bad imo. Just nerf SF already so all these haters can Q.Q over something else and leave my beloved sins alone.

You are really talking out of your arse here. You use Frenzy skillfully, not just bash it every 8 seconds endangering yourself.

Sins are amazing because you can roll your face across the keyboard, get a kill, /rank the dead corpse, and have some angry ABer call you a wikinoob.

Priceless.

You do that to?

Anyway sin needs a rework imo.

I know, but he said Wars were tanks because of their armour.
But yeah, leave "aggro control" to the minions.

In PvP all Sins should be given the /rank emote by default so they can do what masamune described.

I rather like my sin - probably enjoy him most of any of my Characters

However, as to the topic of this discussion, it probably doesn't matter who likes them and who doesn't.

Anet isn't going to remove them from GW1

ANet isn't going to put the time into GW1 that would be required to completely remake them (maybe an SF nerf, although their actions to this point seem to say they intend to leave SF where it is)

Daggers can be put in the HoM and.........

Since HoM weapons will be able to be used in GW2 it would seem a fairly safe bet that sins will be in GW2

So, whether you like them or not, you might as well learn to live with 'em. Looks like they will be around for a while.

incorrect. all HoM weapons will possibly do is give you a bonus of somesort in GW2. it doesn't mean you'll get the exact weapon. as such, you cannot use that to confirm that assassins will be in GW2.

Who says assassins couldn't return in a very different form from Gw1.

Im finding it hard to roll my face across my keyboard.

I think my nose is to awesome or something and keeps screwing with my attempts.
It keeps pressing the S key or something 0_o.

Heres another question.

What do you see happening to sins, in the next year.

Not much. I believe SF will be hit eventually. Apart from that, BBSins are still around and Izzy hates those.

I know you're hoping that Sin utility will be buffed but no chance of that, Deadly Arts was OP before and they're not gonna make that mistake again.

Me

Low-armor, high-damage melee class. Needs an element of surprise to be effective. So far two mechanics have been used in MMOs to achieve this:
- teleporting
- stealth

both of which have been hell on game balance.
